As of Ulduar we will be using EPGP for our 25 man progress raids (the latest tier of content).
EffortPoints & GearPoints (EPGP) is a form of Dragon Kill Points (DKP). EPGP tracks each player’s EffortPoints and GearPoints. Using this information, each player earns a Priority level. If more than one person is eligible for an item, the individuals’ Priority levels will determine who gets that item. As players participate in events and receive items, their Priority Levels will change.
10 man raids and lower tier raid instances will remain on the basic roll system.
FAQHow do I receive EffortPoints?EffortPoints are earned by participating in raid events. Players will get points for signing up and attending a scheduled event on-time and ready to play. You will get points at regular time increments during the raid.
How do I receive GearPoints? When you receive loot in a raid, you receive GearPoints. The item’s level and slot type will set the amount of points that item counts for. A better piece of gear has a higher GP rating. Items’ GPs are calculated automatically by the EPGP addon.
Each raider will start with a minimum of 150 GP as a base level. This exists to prevent a brand new raider from having zero GP and thus automatically having the highest Priority Level. The base level is easy to overcome if you participate regularly in raids (150 GP is very roughly equal to between 1 and 2 items)
How are Priority Levels calculated?EP / GP = Priority Level. As an example, if my EP was 5000, and my GP was 250, my Priority Level would be {5000/250} = 20.
Who will have higher Priority? While this is perhaps an over-simplication, EPGP principles might be generalized into the following prioritization:
1. Frequent raiders who have never received a drop
2. Infrequent raiders who have never received a drop
3. Frequent raiders who have received drops
4. Infrequent raiders who have received drops.
How do I know what my current EPGP and Priority Level is?There is an EPGP addon you can install. It will show you the entire guild's EPGP. It is available at
http://www.curse.com. More info on EPGP, including a direct link to the addon, can be found at
http://code.google.com/p/epgp The officers running the raid will be able to see the points for the whole guild, so installing this is optional if you wish to see the figures, but is not necessary.
Who awards EPGP?
At present, the GM, Dep GM and Raid Officer are authorized to organize EPGP distributive events.
No one wants an item. Can I take it?Yes, but you will always get GP for on-spec items.
Will GP be given for off-spec loot? No. However, we reserve the right to prioritise off-spec loot to certain people. This will be done to ensure that there are people with gear of a high enough level to be able to sucessfully fill an alternate role for a raid(s) where needed, as opposed to several people with only part of the gear to enable them to do this.
What if there is a tie?If more than one person is eligible and have identical Priority, and if neither member is willing to pass, the tie will be settled with a /random. Ties at the start of using this system may be common for the first few raids, but when up and running properly this should be extremely rare.
How do I earn Effort Points to increase my Priority?100 Points will be awarded to everyone who shows up for a scheduled event on time, whether Confirmed or on Standby.
100 Points will be awarded to all participants of the raid, each 30 minutes. If your afk for long periods during this time, or generally messing about and costing us time, the officers will not allocate the latest set of points to you.
Extra Points will be awarded to anyone present during the first 5 kills of a new boss. These will be as follows:
1st Kill: 250 points
2nd Kill: 200 points
3rd Kill: 150 points
4th Kill: 100 points
5th Kill: 50 points
If players are rolled out of a raid, providing they are prepared to be avilable for the duration of the raid, they will be placed on standby and will be awarded the same EP as those taking part in the raid. To do this the player must remain contactable by the raid leader and able to join the raid within a few minutes of being asked. Anyone who attempts to abuse this by placing themselves on standby and then leaving will instead have the enitre sum of the EP earnt by the raid for the night taken
OFF their total EP.
Can I lose EP or GP?The guild decays 10% of the accrued EP and GP once a week, on Wednesdays. This gradual decay helps solve the problem of EP hording and encourages raiders to need loot early.
